A few people have asked what my plans are after the PEV Mini-Bible is (finally) published. I haven't really spoken about it because I don't have very firm 'plans'. Firstly, I really don't know how long it will take to prepare the PEV Mini-Bible for publication. And secondly, I don't know exactly what my life/work will look like after that.
The Mini-Bible will only have 70% of the New Testament and a few excerpts from the Old, so I am planning to continue working on the translation of the Plain English Version. I might do some more research into Aboriginal English before/as I continue with translation. And we'd like to get the rest of what has been translated audio recorded, and hopefully the Luke video dubbed, and some Bible studies published. I'm pretty confident that the Plain English Version will be a lifelong work! I hope to spend some time living in an Aboriginal community once I don't need to be working face-to-face with Dave, but I'm not sure where, when or for how long yet. I'd also like to support Indigenous people doing translation into their own languages, be that in their community or at workshops. And I'll be starting my training to become a translation consultant (to check other people's translations) in May next year. Obviously I won't be able to do it all at once, so pray for more workers to help with Bible translation in northern & central Australia. Also pray for wisdom & provision in working out what community to move to and when.
