To the one who has, more will be given...?!?

TRANSLATING PARALLEL PASSAGES

We are trying to fill in the gaps in the Plain English Version gospels where passages were left untranslated because a similar passage was already available. I thought it would be easier than other translation because we could essentially copy the other PEV passage. However, in reality, it's more complicated! It involves comparing the original Greek of both passages, and then trying to work out how we can keep the necessary similarities with the other PEV passage, while maintaining the distinctions. It is particularly complicated when there are even more similar passages, and/or the same words are used in different contexts.

For example Matthew 13:12 has 4 other similar passages, and they all have different contexts and meanings!

You know, some people take notice of God’s message. Well, God will help those people understand it more and more, so that they know lots and lots. But some people don’t want to listen to God’s message. God will stop those people from understanding the little bit they did hear.
