After further delays at the docks, the Plain English Version (PEV) Mini-Bibles arrived in Australia, and in our bookshop in Darwin in July.
What is the Plain English Version (PEV)?
The PEV is designed for speakers of Aboriginal languages.
What’s included in the Mini-Bible?
Most of the New Testament and some of the Old Testament.
How to order PEV resources
You can order the Bibles and other resources through Bible League (the publisher).
1800 800 937
How much do the Bibles cost?
They are $30, plus postage. (20% discount for orders of 10 or more.)
However, if you are using them for discipleship, Bible League will cover the cost
of the books and postage, for the Bibles and other resources. Your organisation will need to have signed an MOU saying you "commit to regular teaching and engagement using the PEV Resources." Once an organisation has an MOU, anyone in the organisation can order PEV resources for no cost by emailing info@bl.org.au or calling 1800 800 937. Just mention the MOU. If you are in the same location as others in your organisation, please combine your orders.
Will there still be individual booklets available?
Yes. Several books of the Bible are available in large-print booklets and they will be updated to the revised text that's in the enclosed Bible once current stock runs out. Bible League will also continue to print new booklets as further translation is done. The three booklets below were recently published and are now available:
A Little Book about the Bible, by Dave Glasgow
How to access the PEV digitally
Read: ebible.org/engPEV
Listen: ebible.org/engPEV/mp3
Apps: Australian Bibles app (iPhone & Android)
Give thanks for all the people who have worked on the translation over the last 15 years, and those involved in getting the Mini-Bibles published. Give thanks also for everyone who has ordered copies to use for ministry and pray that the books will get into people's hands and transform lives.
