More than a year

It's now more than a year since I moved to Darwin, not really knowing what to expect. After a year, I continue to love the work, and the Territory, and am mostly used to the unplanned nature of life. Today someone asked me whether I had any trips to communities planned, after they open up on 5th June; I said there were some possibilities, but I wasn't sure. "Just like normal!"
Reflecting on the last year in comparison to previous years, here are some of the things I have done:
- Read more of the Bible (still amazed that is my 'job'!)
- Seen more crocodiles (that wasn't hard)
- Driven faster (at 130 km/h and legally)
- Been to more beautiful waterholes (both more of them and more beautiful!)
- Spent more nights in a tent (I think)
- Spent much more time on video calls (along with most Australians)
- Spent more time on my own (which I love)
- Worn fewer jumpers, etc (which I also love)
- Sweated more (a little less love involved)
- Seen more sunsets over the water (they still feel like a novelty)
- Ridden a bike more (and been in a car less)
- Met more bird watchers (I'd like to say I've seen more birds, but I'm not very observant)
Give thanks for a great year, and for all that God has provided to enable me to be here and to enjoy it.
