Bible Society's recordist, Peter, was in Darwin recently for a Kriol recording workshop and was able to fit in some more PEV recording around the workshop. He's getting close to having recorded all the parts for the PEV narratives. Then it's just a matter of checking and editing them all, and putting it together (and checking it again). I had fun working out how much each reader's recordings needed slowing down. I feel bad asking a reader to slow down over and over again, but it's worth it! Slower recordings give people time to process the information, which is especially important when listening to something in a language you don't use every day. They are also more useful for people who are learning to read.
These photos are from some of the recording sessions that I helped out with while Peter was in Darwin. All the voices in the narrative recordings are Indigenous Australians, but we made an exception for Dave Glasgow, whose voice will be Simeon and Zechariah in the book of Luke. (I had to tell Dave to slow down too!)
Give thanks for Bible Society and Global Recordings Network, and all who have been involved with recording and checking for the PEV audio. Pray for good progress as Peter aims to get recordings for some books ready by the end of the month.
And if you'd like to help check some chapters of PEV audio recordings, let me know!
