Made it to Maningrida!

Dave and Kathy Glasgow moved to Maningrida 60 years ago to work with Burarra speakers and translate the Bible. While they haven't lived there for 30 years, it seems like everyone still recognises them, calling out to "An-jarral" and "Bambay" – terms of respect meaning "old man" and "old woman" (names they were given long before they were truly old). When we heard that our colleagues who live in Maningrida would be away for a month, we agreed that it would be a good opportunity to visit, a chance for Dave and Kathy to reconnect with the Burarra community, and for me to build on the relationships I'd developed and things I'd learnt on previous trips. We had a wonderful time connecting with Christians in the community.

While we were there Kathy worked with some Burarra speakers to translate some Old Testament verses, then used them to encourage other Christians

She also showed people some Burarra Old Testament stories that are about to be printed

And Dave took the opportunity to show people what the Plain English Version Mini-Bible is going to be like

And I helped people get the Bible on their phone

Seeing people's hunger for God's word, was a great encouragement, but also showed me the great need for discipleship, as well as further Bible translation. Pray with me for more workers for both!
