A few days after arriving in Darwin I headed down to the Katherine Christian Convention (KCC). It is designed for Aboriginal Christians from around the Territory and it was refreshing to see people worshipping God in different ways. The talks were from 1 John and challenged us to walk in God's light and love each other. Each evening there was a time for groups from different communities to perform items, which included sharing what God had been teaching them and worshipping him through song and dance. On the Saturday evening we also celebrated the dedication of the 2nd Edition of the Kriol Bible (photo above). Kriol is the only Aboriginal language with the whole Bible translated, and the first edition that was published in 2007 had sold out again, so it was revised before being reprinted this time.
I also enjoyed meeting Christian workers from around the Territory (though I've already forgotten many names), and felt useful helping sell Bibles, handing out the Bible readings in various languages and even manning one of the video cameras for a bit.
