It's more clear!

Recently, an Aboriginal teacher at Nungalinya College shared at morning chapel* on a passage from Luke. He read the passage from the Contemporary English Version (CEV), but afterwards, he went and looked it up in the Plain English Version (PEV) on his phone. He told me, very animatedly, at morning tea that the PEV was "more clear!" He said he should have used the PEV at chapel so that the Aboriginal students could have understood it more easily. It was sad that it hadn't been used, but encouraging to find that he found it so much easier to understand.

The next week, the same teacher came into our bookshop, and I started telling him that we were expecting the PEV Mini-Bibles soon, but he cut me off and said, "But I want the whole Bible, not just bits."

Better get on it!

Give thanks that the PEV is helping people understand the Bible more clearly. Pray for continued progress with translation.

*Nungalinya College trains Indigenous Australian adults who want to understand the Bible better and live out their faith. Students come from remote communities for a few weeks at a time. Chapel is held each morning before class, right next to our office. (This photo is from a different day at chapel.)
