If you know anyone who might be interested in working in the Northern Territory (or East Timor for that matter), we would love more workers to help give Indigenous people better access to God's word. See the video below for more details and feel free to ask me about it!
Wycliffe members working in Australia work under the name the Australian Society for Indigenous Languages (AuSIL). As generic as it sounds, our purpose is to help people access God's word. The name doesn't mention Bible translation because in some countries people can't get visas if they work for an explicitly Christian organisation. The organisation also supports Bible translation in East Timor, as when there was unrest in Timor, Bible translators worked out of Darwin for a time. AuSIL rents my office space for me and supports the Plain English Version in other ways. It also supports Bible translation in Indigenous languages, and produces and sells Biblical resources in those languages, such as Bibles, Bible studies, Bible story books, audio recordings of Scripture, and songs based on Scripture. At the moment, AuSIL's expenses are greater than it's income, so if you or anyone you know would like to financially support the work in Australia and Timor, you can give through AuSIL: ausil.org.au/node/3714 AuSIL has also had an Interim Director for over a year now. Give thanks that a potential candidate has been found. And pray that he will be able to take on the role, and that God will give him the wisdom, skills and support needed to fulfil it.
