Unexpected: PEV Printing

When I decided to do Bible translation in northern Australia, printing was not something I pictured as part of my work.

We prepared the second edition of the Plain English Version (PEV) Mini-Bible (an incomplete Bible with what has been translated so far) in October 2024. At the time it felt very soon to update it when the first edition had only arrived just over a year earlier. And it was a lot more work than I expected! But I'm now very thankful that Bible League, the publisher of the PEV, asked for it way back then, because the next print run only arrived a few months ago, just a few weeks after the first edition ran out!

The arrival was delayed by 12 months because a Queensland prison requested the pictures containing weapons/violence be removed, and communication was a little slow. However, when the new edition arrived, the publisher found that the Bibles unexpectedly still contain the original pictures. It's not actually a big deal, that prison can still use the individual booklets. But I'm glad the new Bibles, now containing all of Genesis, Jonah and a few Psalms, arrived not long after the previous ones ran out!

We're now hoping that some new individual booklets will arrive from the printer, hopefully this week. They are:

• Genesis

• Jonah

• 10 Psalms

• 1 Corinthians

• John Epistles

Please pray that these booklets will be available soon, and that future print runs will be a little faster.
