The impact of the PEV

We've recently received some really encouraging feedback about the Plain English Version (PEV) Bible portions from people around the Northern Territory.

From an Aboriginal teacher at Nungalinya College

“This book is really good. My sister, she can’t read much, but this book, she can understand. That man made the English good for Aboriginal people.”

From a CMS missionary in Arnhem Land

"The PEV seems to make a lot more sense to people than other English translations. Last Sunday, one of the men preached briefly using the PEV, and translated it on the fly into the local language. Your team's hard work is being used and helping people here grow and mature towards Christ."

From a health worker in Central Australia

"I read a bit of the PEV to one of my patients who is originally from a remote community. He really really liked the translation and said he found it easy to understand and he was excited by the Aboriginal person reading it on the YouVersion app. He’s blind, so he relies on audio a lot."

From a pastor in Alice Springs

People that I’m reading this Bible with have gone, “I can actually understand God’s word for the first time.” ... One young man I met was in trouble with the law. He got his hands on one of these Bibles and he found Romans 7. ... “That is my life. I want to do what is right, but I just can’t.” Verse 25 goes on to say, “Thank God, Jesus Christ can make us free. He is the answer. God made a way for us to be free.” So, I was able to share how Jesus can make us free.

The quote above came from an article in the Melbourne Anglican, which you can read here: tma.melbourneanglican.org.au/2025/09/united-in-jesus-alice-springs-pastor

Give thanks that people are using and understanding the Plain English Version Scriptures that have been translated. Pray that more and more people will find out about them and grow in their understanding of God's word.
