Late last year we hired two Aboriginal ladies to help in the bookshop and office 4 hours a week each. Miriam (a Garrwa speaker) and Caroline (a Kriol speaker) both love coming to work! They come from very different backgrounds to me. Early on when we were filling out forms, Caroline was particularly excited to learn how to calculate her age. Later that day she tried to teach me how to kill a goanna (in theory only). I wasn't quite as excited.
Give thanks for Caroline and Miriam's enthusiasm, and that Wycliffe Australia agreed to fund their employment. Pray for wisdom as we train them and consider what tasks are both useful and make the most of their skills.
