Delighting in God in the Psalms

While I was in Maningrida, I was able to work on some PEV Psalms that a colleague had drafted. I'll admit that translating Psalms into plain English loses some of the beauty of the poetry, but it also makes you think about what they really mean. What does it mean to be "blessed"? It's not a word we use much anymore.

Here's Psalm 34:8 in a few versions:

New International Version Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.

New Living Translation Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!

Plain English Version draft Find out for yourself that God is really good. Look at all the things he does. Whenever you get trouble, ask God to look after you. He will do that, and he will make you really happy.
